1. First of all, the best way to become "friendly" with google is to follow their guidelines. Have you signed up with google webmaster tools yet?
If not, here is the link:
www.google.com/webmasters/
2. Don't forget to use sitemap. This is extremely important for search engine spiders to crawl your pages.
3. Work on the keywords and avoid keyword stuffing:
- Keyword in URL
- Keyword in Domain name
- Keyword in Title tag
- Keyword in H1, H2 and H3
4. Devote your time to outgoing links.
- link only to good sites (no link farms).
- Anchor Text
- no more than 300 links!
5. Updates and new pages. Add fresh content, but don't overdo it. Too much content in little time is bad. Too many changes in one go - bad.
6. Age of the site and domain name plays important role. Be patient and you will be in top 10!
7. Try to get into DMOZ directory and it is worth trying Yahoo Directory.
8. Work on your traffic. Number of visitors is important. However, don't run and buy traffic. A jump from 10 visitors to 100,000 is not good!
9. Register your domain for longer period of time. 1 year = not serious. 5 years = very serious!
10. Avoid link buying. If "THEY" find out, doom on you!
Start optimizing and I will post some more tips later on!
