Why Meta Tags Are Important?

Meta tags are essential for search engine optimization, since these labels provide the vital information of your forex site. What kind of essential information do these labels provide? Why should affiliates and web masters use them? What is the right way to have complete, accurate and up-to-date meta tags?

During the indexing process, the search engines use meta tags to understand the website name, the page content, small description which is used in search results. It is important to create unique meta tags for every page of your forex website.

Let’s consider an example:

Just as the above example presented, the basic meta tags can be classified into 4 categories:

1. Title Tag

This tag shows the name of the particular page. This title will appear in the search engine results and at the top of the web browser.

Tips:

· Don’t write too much! About 7 words and 50 characters should be enough. Google, for example, displays only 60 characters including spaces, meaning that if your title is longer, it will cut it short and add triple dot at the end – not very attractive and definitely not search engine friendly!

· Use keywords in the title tag! By using up to 7 distinctive words, you create many different combinations and matching search terms.

2. Description Tag

This tag provides the description of your forex website. It will be used as a short description in search engine results listing.

Tips:

· Use your forex keywords in the description tag two times, but make sure it sounds natural and not over stuffed. After all, the purpose of the description is to attract traders instead of terrifying them! Besides, overusing the keyword phrase can have a negative impact on SEO.

3. Keyword Tag

Keywords tags are used to show the search engines what your site is all about. There are many different thoughts on the overall importance of the keywords. I personally think that it doesn’t hurt to specify the words and phrases that are related to your website text.

Tips:

· Use keywords which are in the content of your website.

· Avoid keyword stuffing – you can get a penalty for this.

· Learn from your competition. Visit the top 10 websites for your forex-related topic and check out their meta tags.

· Use Google keyword suggestion tool. It can show you which keywords are actually searched for, how strong is the competition and whether it is worth using in the first place.

· You can either separate the keywords with space or comma. Both methods are acceptable; just make sure not to list the same keywords one after another. For example, this is NOT good: trading, trading resources, resources forex, forex brokers

4. Robots Tag

Robot tags signal search engine spiders to crawl your entire forex site. To get all of your pages listed, search engines use their spiders to go through your site on a regular basis. When a spider sees a meta tag “all”, it just starts crawling. Despite that most engines crawl even when the robot tag is not included, why take chances? Including it definitely won’t hurt your SEO efforts.
